Aidan Zeissler

Freshman Representative Candidate

In a few sentences, introduce yourself to your peers!

Hello Everyone! My name is Aidan, and I am a freshman this year at UMD. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Environmental Science and considering a minor in German Studies. Outside of school, I love to camp, hike, read, run 5k races, and play video games.

Why would you be a good leader of your Freshman class? You may include any leadership advocacy type of experience you have done.

I am a very sociable person, able to get along with just about anyone. In addition, I have had many leadership opportunities through my past experiences, such as being the Senior Patrol Leader for my Boy Scout Troop, a Confirmation Leader for my local church, and the Outdoor Ethics Guide on my Boy Scouts of America trip to Philmont. In terms of advocacy, I have consistently sought out new opportunities to explore and discover through my advocacy skills, such as joining the UHSA LLC, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, and requesting, as well as receiving, course content early.

What ideas do you believe you could bring to the table in Student Government Association? How would you pursue these changes?

If I were elected to Student Government, I would make it my priority to expand and expedite the process of adding additional renewable energy sources on campus. I will work closely with the Office of Sustainability and environmental clubs such as See Change. Additionally, I would strive to create a uniform electrical setup across campus by removing the remaining fluorescent bulbs and replacing light switches with automatic switches.
